Yoga for Swimmers – 1 app and some video

Yoga is an excellent way for swimmers to gain strength and flexibility. 1 or 2 sessions a week will not only benefit your swimming but the mindfulness benefits and mental downtime are great for recovery too,

I like to use an app called Yoga Studio, which is available from the iTunes store.

There are some great yoga workouts with good progression from beginning through to advanced. There are shorter 15-20 minute sequences to longer 1 hour workouts. There is also the option to create a custom workout from the different yoga poses available in the app. I also like to change the background sounds, which are refreshing and keeps you focused but relaxed.

There are also a number of video yoga workouts available online for swimmers. Two that I particularly like are, Yoga with Adrienne and The Race club yoga videos.
